Chief Lloyd Gauthier
On behalf of the men and women of the Rhinelander Police Department welcome to our website. As you navigate through our website, we hope the information and resources provided are helpful.
I was sworn in as the 14th chief of Rhinelander Police Department on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. I have previously worked for the WI State Patrol and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. I am a Rhinelander native and a true Hodag at heart. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Upper Iowa University graduating Cum Laude. I am also an independent certified John Maxwell leadership trainer, coach, and speaker.
Whether you are a citizen of Rhinelander or a visitor to our beautiful city, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Chief Lloyd J. Gauthier, Jr.
I would like to welcome you to the Rhinelander Police Department website and thank you for taking a minute to learn more about the Rhinelander Police Department and myself.

I started my career in law enforcement in 2004 and am currently the Captain at the Rhinelander Police Department. We serve a population of over 7,700 by upholding our mission statement to; “Work in partnership with the community to solve problems, prevent crime, enhance the quality of life, and provide a safe environment for everyone.” I have dedicated my career to serving the citizens and visitors of this great city. Stop in, say hello, and ask me how we are serving our community.
