The Rhinelander Police Department began its Citizen's Police Academy in February of 2008 as part of a community oriented policing program. The Citizen's Police Academy is designed to allow individuals who live, own property, or work within the City of Rhinelander the opportunity to see what the members of the Rhinelander Police Department do on a daily basis.
Rhinelander Police Officers teach the students about firearms, defensive and arrest tactics, patrol procedures, accident investigation, drug investigation, criminal investigations, and operating while under the influence investigations. Students of the program will also complete a four (4) hour ride-along with a member of the Rhinelander Police Department.

Community involvement is the most powerful, efficient, and practical tool any law enforcement agency has in its fight against crime. It is through this partnership that crime prevention can be more effective and successful. For more information about the academy, contact Detective Sergeant Kyle Parish at the Rhinelander Police Department.
